An escapee from cultivation,  Wild Portulaca or as it is sometimes called, Hairy Portulaca, is found in dry sandy soils in thin scrub or open spaces from Florida into se Louisiana, Georgia and North Carolina.   A perennial, we almost always see it here every spring before the soil is turned for spring planting.

The tall blue stalks is Blue Sage which covered the field before being taken over by the more aggressive Wild Portulaca.  See my previous post.    See you soon on most of this same blog.
