You’ll find them all over Eastern North Carolina this time of the year.  Daylilies.

So named because each flower only lasts for one day,  Daylilies are rugged, adaptable, vigorous perennials that endure for many years with little or no care.  They establish quickly, grow fast and survive the winter with little or no injury.  Here in North Carolina, You’ll find masses of them on slopes, along highways and roads and, of course, in yards and flower beds across the state.   Here in Eastern NC, the flavor of choice seems to be orange.

See you soon on most of this same blog.

  1. I didn’t know Daylillies only lasted one day…very interesting…very beautiful as well.

The other day I saw a beautiful magnolia. I didn’t have my camera. The next morning I went back to take a picture of it, but it had already turned brown…Big disappointment but I found some other magnolias that had just bloomed…So, it turned out alright. My point is that magnolias must have a similiar one day life as the daylilly. 🙂
