The arctic express rolled in overnight. A day early. For a moment this morning, I thought we had some snow on the ground. Not so. Turned out to be a heavy frost which has also been a rarity this winter. Scenes like this have been few and far between.
Looks pretty cold doesn’t it. It was. There is talk of snow this weekend in the mountains of North Carolina but here in the East along the coast, just bone chilling cold. 20’s. And high wind, maybe 45 miles an hour. Enough to send the wind chill due south. The farm’s frost patrol is on full alert. Time to man the burners, the burlap and the bags…..bags? Yep, we actually go around and put bags over tender blooms to prevent frost damage. Bundle up. See you next time on most of this same blog.
