I was heading back to Southern Shores from Duck when I saw these clouds forming up over the ocean and drove like crazy to get to our beach access point to grab the shot. Nikon D600 with a 24-120mm f/4 lens.
I got the D600 back from Nikon yesterday. To recap a bit, Nikon had issued a recall for the camera to install a new shutter mechanism and general cleaning of the camera, particularly the sensor. This in the wake of almost a year of complaints that the camera was prone to oil spots and dust on the sensor. I had cleaned the sensor several times myself over the past year but I had not experienced the nightmare that others have reported but when the recall came down and Nikon offered to pay the shipping both ways, even for cameras out of warranty which mine certainly was, I figured why look a gift horse in the mouth.
Nikon detailed all the work they had performed on my camera. There was a long list of parts replaced, including the entire shutter mechanism, the camera was brought up to factory specifications, cleaned and the sensor was cleaned. I checked. The sensor is pristine.
It took Nikon quite a while to finally do the right thing but I applaud them for doing so.
Thanks for the look and have a great evening.
