The wind off the ocean is pretty much constant here so most of my flower shots

are done in Shutter Priority.

Thanks for the visit. Blue skies and green lights in the week ahead.  See you

next time.

Photo Of The Day: Red Japanese Maple

302a.editedIt really is a Red Japanese Maple but this time of the year the leaves have a decided orange flavor.  The red glow behind the leaves is served up by a huge bright red formosa Azlaea.  Its large blooms blurred out with a 300mm lens wide open at f/5.6.  You really have to see this in large.  Thanks for the visit and have a great evening.

Photo Of The Day: Japanese Maple

The Japanese Maple gets top billing but the star of this shot to me are the bright red,Formosa Azaleas which provide the brilliant background.  A simple matter of  opening up the lens to blur out the Azalea Flowers.  My late sister who painted for a living always called this “Camera Painting”.   Alas, its about the only kind of painting I can do.  Thanks for the look and have a great evening.

Natural Abstraction

Ground fog combined with the warm morning light just after dawn gives the orange leaves on this Japanese Maple a degree of natural abstraction, ie.. a  painterly effect.   This image is pretty much straight out the camera: Nikon D600 with an 85mm lens.  Thanks for the look and have a great evening.

Autumn Excursion

I don’t know of many things more spectacular than a Japanese Maple in November.  This one is right at the entrance to my driveway and each time I leave or come home, I have to stop for a bit and soak up the color.   It really is like a B12 shot to the optic nerve.  This view captures the sunlight back lighting the orange/red leaves.   Nikon D7k with a 200mm lens.  Thanks for the visit and have a great evening.
